Synopsis
A trio of notorious thieves crosses from Mainland China to
Hong Kong to lay low after a bank heist.
Johnnie To produced crime thriller Trivisa will soon premiere
as part of the Berlin International Film Festival and the first teaser for what
promises to be one slick piece of classically inspired Hong Kong cinema has
arrived online.
Set in Hong Kong before its handover to China in 1997, the
city's booming economy inadvertently attracts three infamous criminals from
Mainland China to cross the border and make their fortune in Hong Kong. Trivisa
is Sanskrit for "Three Poisons" of greed, hatred and bewilderment -
which according to Buddhist teachings are the primary causes of all suffering.
Each criminal is the epitome of one of these poisons, which in turn is the root
of his ultimate downfall.
The point from the movie is, do you think it is by fortune or by fate??
ReplyDeleteAlways the bad guy never runs from punishment. Wealth is an evil or a power that controls a person's mind if you could not overcome it.
The story centers around three true-to-life criminals and is set in 1997, just prior to the handover. Each director takes on the story line of each different character. Such a great production!
ReplyDeleteUltimately, this is less a nourish thriller than it is a triple portrait of larger-than-life characters, who are all forced to renegotiate their brash and unruly criminal lifestyles in a dramatically changing political landscape.
