Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (2016)

Synopsis

After the events of the first movie, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles return for yet another mission in New York City, but this time with a new vigilante in their midst, Casey Jones, who is played by Stephen Amell.

Michelangelo, Donatello, Leonardo, and Raphael return to theaters this summer to battle bigger, badder villains, alongside April O'Neil, Vern Fenwick, and a newcomer: the hockey-masked vigilante Casey Jones. After supervillain Shredder escapes custody, he joins forces with mad scientist Baxter Stockman and two dimwitted henchmen, Bebop and Rocksteady, to unleash a diabolical plan to take over the world. As the Turtles prepare to take on Shredder and his new crew, they find themselves facing an even greater evil with similar intentions: the notorious Krang.

"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows" is the sequel to the 2014 hit film "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles." The film is based on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles characters created by Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman and is directed by David Green ("Earth to Echo"). Michael Bay (the "Transformers" franchise) returns to produce alongside his Platinum Dunes partners Brad Fuller and Andrew Form ("Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles"), with Galen Walker and Scott Mednick ("Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles") also producing.

The city needs heroes. Darkness has settled over New York City as Shredder and his evil Foot Clan have an iron grip on everything from the police to the politicians. The future is grim until four unlikely outcast brothers rise from the sewers and discover their destiny as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The Turtles must work with fearless reporter April and her wise-cracking cameraman Vern Fenwick to save the city and unravel Shredder’s diabolical plan.

  1. The Turtles return to save the city from a dangerous threat.

This movie completely satisfied me and set itself up for a great sequel. It had great animation which made the turtles seem like actual characters. Also with its amazing fight scenes.

  2. With a terrible actress, clumsy and a bit boring story, and fake false science-fiction, this down-beat story can just be called "fantasy". Perhaps, this could sound a bit interesting for children or some teenagers.

I might have liked it, if I was 10 years old. As a fan of the old movies, I must say I am disappointed.

  3. Not much of that easygoing style rubs off on the human characters, however, as Fox spends much of the movie acting bewildered as April tries to keep up with rapidly shifting plot developments, and Fichtner delivers a generically styled, simplistically motivated baddie. Arnett has the only role that comes close to matching the turtles’ verve, but doesn’t get enough time onscreen to create a lasting impression.

  4. The trailer features some new details about the plot, one that could force the Turtles to make a life-changing decision. In it, the Turtles yearn to be “out of the shadows” – get it? – so that they can interact like normal humans. However, they cannot leave from their home in the sewers, not even on Halloween where it would be less conspicuous.
