Synopsis
This horror film tells the story of an orphaned child, who,
when fast asleep, will dream of horrific things and he finds that whatever is
conjured up in his dreaming state will manifest physically as he sleeps.
The child's dream becomes their nightmare.
In this intense and heart pounding supernatural thriller, Jessie
and Mark decide to take in a sweet and loving 8-year-old boy, Cody. Unbeknownst
to them, Cody is terrified of falling asleep. At first, they assume his
previous unstable homes caused his aversion to sleep, but soon discover why
Cody's dreams manifest in reality as he sleeps. In one moment they experience
the incredible wonder of Cody's imagination, and in the next, the horrific
nature of his night terrors. To save their new family, Jessie and Mark embark
on a dangerous hunt to uncover the truth behind Cody's nightmares.
This movie isn't a typical and predictable "happy ending movie", however it has many twist plots and is amazingly creative. I loved the idea at the end and how the ending was a bit open, making the audience thinks a bit for themselves.
ReplyDeleteI would say the movie production is a combination of horror and touching with the scene where a mother needs a son and a son needs a mother, which is a perfect match.
ReplyDeleteAlthough this supernatural horror lacks visionary touch and relies too much on jump scares, BEFORE I WAKE still benefits from its strong cast as well as the eerie setting.
ReplyDeleteThis is a regular horror tale. There is nothing exceptional here that sets it apart from other films of its ilk. All known elements of the horror genre are employed to scare you with marginal effect and impact.
ReplyDeleteFilms like these are rarely released theatrically. It’s not an important horror film and at most can be described as ‘time pass’ cinema for those who have nothing important to do in life.
