Nobita and The Birth of Japan (2016)

Synopsis

Doraemon and friends run away from their home and travel back in time to the 70,000 years ago where nobody existed to build their ideal private paradise. After they fully relished the freedom in the era, Doraemon and friends bid farewell to their paradise and come back to the present day. However, a few days after they came back home, Doraemon and friends bump into a caveman called “Kukul” in the current era. They find out that the caveman Kukul was accidentally transported forward to the present, and that his tribe called Hikari tribe was attacked and abducted by GIGAZONBIE and KURAYAMI tribe after Doraemon and friends left the primitive age. Doraemon and friends decide to go back to the primitive age to save Hikari tribe from the villain. They dive into a grand adventure during their first and the furthest runaway.

The film is a remake of the 1989 "Doraemon" movie of the same name. Nobita and the gang run away from home, travelling back in time to 70,000 years ago, before Japan was even born. After a while, they return to the present. However, when they bump into a young caveman, Kukuru, who they have accidentally transported forward to their current era, they realise they must take him back to the primitive age. On top of that, they will have to save Kukuru's tribe, called the Hikari tribe, which was attacked and abducted by the Giganzonbie and Kurayami tribe.

When a variety of circumstances leave Nobita, Doraemon and the gang wanting to run away from home, they face the task of finding somewhere to live. However, with every seemingly spare piece of land already owned by someone else, building themselves a house looks impossible – that is, until Nobita has the idea of travelling back seventy thousand years into the past. While the group are making themselves at home in an uninhabited Japan, back at home a glitch in space-time has sent a caveboy crashing into the middle of the city.

Together, the gang decides to return the young boy to his true time and help him free his captured friends, even if it means facing the dangers of Kukuru’s enemies: the dark tribe.

  1. The film is a remake of the Doraemon: Nobita at the Birth of Japan film. In the film's story, Nobita comes up with the idea of running away from home because he is always being scolded at home and at school. Additionally, Gian, Shizuka, and Suneo all have their own reasons for running away from home. Together with Doraemon, they all travel through time to the Japan of 70,000 years ago.

  3. Some of the works exhibited are the keyframes from Nobita and the Birth of Japan. Also, there are time machine-themed artworks; specifically the one-way time machine in “Kiteretsu Daihyakka”, the one from Perman, and the time machine used in “Pokonyan!”

  4. I read Doraemon intensively when I was young. The story of a cat from the future helping a really pathetic boy change his future was a fascinating one, along with all the gadgets that he had. I used to imagine how my life would be if I had those gadgets as well and would do anything to have a faithful friend like Doraemon.
