After handling the case of the disturbing farmhouse in Rhode
Island, paranormal investigators Ed Warren and his wife Lorraine Warren are
back, and this time they travel to England where something sinister is
suspected to be festering at a council house in the London Borough of Enfield.
Lorraine and Ed Warren travel to north London to help a
single mother raising four children alone in a house plagued by malicious
spirits.
In the sequel to the 2013 horror hit, Ed and Lorraine Warren
(Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga) travel to London to investigate the case of
the Hodgson family. The movie is based on true events.
The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist was scripted by Chad
and Carey Hayes, the pair who penned the first film. And most exciting to
horror fans, the sequel has successfully lured back director James Wan, who is
currently in postproduction on his step outside the genre with the
action-thriller Furious 7.
The case began in the titular Northern suburb of London, England in 1977. There, divorced single mother Margaret Hodgson lived with her four children, who ranged in age from seven to 13. But their happy home life was turned on its head when bizarre phenomena began to occur. The Hodgson children began to complain that their beds shake in the night, a chest of drawers moves in the dark, and mysterious knocking sounds resound throughout the halls. Later, LEGOs would be seen soaring through the air. At first, Margaret believed her kids were making it up, or pitching LEGOs about themselves. But as things escalated, she couldn't ignore that something strange was going on. She tried to stop the heavy oak chest as it moved toward the door, concluding that an invisible force was trying to trap them in the room.
Reprising their roles, Oscar nominee Vera Farmiga ("Up In the Air," TV's "Bates Motel") and Patrick Wilson (the "Insidious" films), star as Lorraine and Ed Warren, who, in one of their most terrifying paranormal investigations, travel to north London to help a single mother raising four children alone in a house plagued by malicious spirits.
ReplyDeleteDirector James Wan brings this supernatural thriller to the screen with another real case from the files of renowned demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren.
ReplyDeleteThe original Conjuring was inspired by the haunting of the Perron family, and the spin-off movie, Annabelle, drew on the frightening true story of a real cursed doll - so frightening, in fact, that the movie caused riots in theaters.
That’s creepy! I believe it's real. I know things like this happen!
ReplyDeleteIt was a horrible movie with only jump scares and nothing to really tie it into the Perron's book. What riots did it cause? I haven't seen anything in the news or internet about riots in that movie. Any horror fanatic knows that.
Some argue that the film gave birth to a culture of paranormal hoaxes carried out by those seeking money and fame. Others believe that the William Friedkin film allowed impressionable minds to become easily influenced by its demonic plot.
ReplyDeleteThe Conjuring series, despite its witchy name, is based on the real lives of the Warrens, who would investigate instances of paranormal activity for demons. Much of what the Warrens actually do has a deep basis in Christianity, as Ed Warren was the only non-priest sanctioned by the Vatican to perform exorcisms.
