ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING

SYNOPSIS:

A disappointing school teacher named Neil Clarke suddenly discovers that he has been granted the ability to do absolutely anything by a group of power-crazed eccentric aliens, as an experiment. Clarke is having trouble dealing with his new found ability. Thus, he decides to seek help from his loyal canine companion Dennis.

When some aliens, who travel from planet to planet to see what kind of species inhabits them, come to Earth. And if they are, according to their standards, decent, they are welcomed to be their friend. And if not the planet is destroyed. To find out they choose one inhabitant and give that person the power to do whatever he/she wants. And they choose Neil Clarke, a teacher who teaches the special kids. He is constantly being berated by the headmaster and is attracted to his neighbor, Catherine but doesn't have the guts to approach her. But now he can do anything he wants but has to be careful.

Simon Pegg does his best as a downtrodden teacher who is randomly selected by interplanetary beings to have godlike magic powers. He uses these to make his beautiful neighbour (Kate Beckinsale) fall in love with him – and things continue from there. A huge amount of talent here, including Joanna Lumley and Eddie Izzard. Sadly it goes nowhere.

  1. With that magic on hand you could probably solve every problem in the world??
Comedy unlike other genres does not translate well when critics rely on details found in press packs to fill out their reviews.

Simon Pegg seems to have been typecast as the 'ugly comedy brit' in Hollywood who will take any role thrown at him.
