Mr. Right (2016)

Synopsis

Martha (Anna Kendrick) discovers that her new beau, Francis (Sam Rockwell), is a professional assassin… with a cause. He kills the people ordering the hits. As the bodies pile up, Martha must decide whether to flee or join her man in the mayhem.

A girl falls for the "perfect" guy, who happens to have a very fatal flaw: he's a hitman on the run from the crime cartels who employ him.

Hyperactive at the best of times, Martha has gone full-on manic since her latest breakup. She babbles, parties like a monster, cooks everything in sight - and is looking to do something terrible when she meets Francis. To anyone else, Francis's approach would come across as creepy, but Martha can't help but be intrigued. They seem a perfect match: she's bananas; he's bananas... except he's a deadly sort of bananas. He's a professional assassin. Francis is a hitman with a cause: he unexpectedly kills the people ordering the hits. Just as Martha begins to realize her new beau wasn't joking when he said he had to step out for a moment to shoot someone, things start heating up for Francis. His services are solicited by a dubious client who's being sought by an equally dubious FBI agent. As the bodies pile up, Martha needs to decide whether to flee or join in the mayhem.

  1. I guess they figured that people would have forgotten Pulp Fiction, or the various inferior clones it spawned. Laws of Gravity are the better crime movie from the 90's starring Zed anyways. Anna Kendrick should be in some horror flicks because she gives me the creeps. Rockwell is too talented for stuff like this.

  2. Mr. Right is a comedy. Francis and Martha are obviously not in their right minds. This film isn't like Pulp Fiction, except that it has a hitman in it. He's not a drug addict or sadist sermonizing his victims. He isn't a boxer with a naive girlfriend. There aren't any high strung couples robbing diner patrons. If there is any similarity it would be that Francis likes to dance, which is similar to every character ever played by Christopher Walken.

  3. This film is entertaining with a really unique way. I won’t deny that the humor is really not for everyone. They create all sort of weird situations that make you laugh with the fact that they even happening like that.

  4. I've always liked Anna Kendrick, but I don't think I've ever enjoyed or appreciated her work this much. She was totally on the ball and hilarious, and she and Sam Rockwell make an unexpectedly perfect couple. The comedy was on point throughout the movie, and the jokes were awesome and very original. You fall in love with the characters and as strange as the plot is, the love story between them is very believable.

  5. Great comedy and great acting I thought. Overall, I really enjoyable it and it has an unusual story line like nothing I have seen before. Closest is probably something like Mr. and Mrs. Smith but they're still miles apart. Both funny and about killers but that's it. I actually prepared this film in comparison.
